One Hundred Year Old Memories of Central Oregon on the Friday Point

Historic Moments of Central Oregon when we will listen to Kessler Cannon’s 15 minute history with Dominick Verges, a Basque sheepherder who first arrived in Central Oregon in 1911. Verges herded sheep until 1932, when he switched to cattle. He gives us a pioneer’s perspective on ranching in Deschutes and Crook Counties, especially the hardships of the sheep herder.  Kelly Cannon-Miller, Executive Director of Deschutes Historical Society joins us to enhance the historical content about Central Oregon history.

Cascades Academy Student Radio Show

KPOV is proud to collaborate with students and teachers at Cascades Academy school in a course on music and society. Students have done their academic work at Cascades Academy and come to KPOV to produce a 1-hour radio show with KPOV’s guidance.

The show will air on KPOV from 4-5 p.m. on Thursday, June 6.

Friday's Point will Answer Unspoken Questions about Trauma and How to Manage It

Trauma affects all of us.  Continued trauma leaves unseen scars that many of us fail to deal with.  On the Friday Point we will speak with Elizabeth Bouvier-Fitzgerald, Licensed Professional Counselor and Barbara Largent, MD, about the recent trauma conference held in Bend a couple of weeks ago and the new awareness of the impact of trauma on all of us.
