About KPOV: Located in Bend, Oregon, KPOV, 88.9 FM is High Desert Community Radio. Listener supported and volunteer powered, we are radio by the people and for the people of Central Oregon. KPOV is a nonprofit organization with a small staff who work collaboratively on KPOV’s projects and many day-to-day operations. Overview of the Opportunity: The Relationship Director’s main objective is to raise operational funds for KPOV from its members. The director retains, stewards, and grows KPOV’s member/donor base by leading the executive director, staff, board of directors, and volunteers with member relations, donor database management (Donor Perfect), marketing, media relations, and donor communications. Along with the executive director and marketing committee, the Relationship Director acts as the point person for activities to increase public awareness of KPOV to prospective members and listeners through press coverage, station publications, community partnerships, and other promotional opportunities.
What we are looking for: Candidates must have a passion for KPOV, be self-motivated, organized, personable, and able to communicate with a variety of organizations, personalities and communication preferences. Individuals must have a strong and creative approach to problem-solving, a robust work ethic, and respectable integrity. Applicants must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, meet deadlines and attain set goals. They must collaborate easily with staff members, the board of directors and volunteers. Prior experience in member relations and development will be given favorable consideration.
Specific Activities Might Include:
Annual Membership Plan
Lead efforts to create an annual membership plan to determine priorities and maintain existing revenue streams and create additional/new revenue for the station.
Assist the executive director, board, development committee and staff to create a 3–5-year membership plan that aligns with our mission, values and strategic plan
Provide leadership to implement the annual membership plan
Act as a liaison on the development committee
Recruit volunteers to participate in plan implementation development activities
Continually evaluate and improve the annual membership plan (e.g., new processes, software, trainings, streamlining events)
Provide monthly updates to the board of directors, executive director and development committee with status toward goals
Membership
Set membership goals along with executive director, board of directors, and development committee
Recruit and retain members/donors
Steward members/donors toward various avenues of giving
Assist staff and volunteers with semi-annual membership drives to engage members/donors
Oversee monthly sustaining gift campaign
Oversee year-end donation campaign
Oversee employee matching gift program
Oversee other direct mail campaigns
Oversee thank you campaign to donors
Develop and implement ongoing member/donor communication campaigns (KPOV currently uses Constant Contact)
Assist executive director, 20th anniversary committee, staff and volunteers with KPOV’s 20th anniversary campaign and events
Major Donor Program
Develop and implement a major donor program
Establish and maintain relationships with current and prospective major donors
Motivate, train and support board of directors and volunteers in major donor outreach
Planned Giving Program
Evaluate and improve current planned giving program
Maintain relationship with Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) planned giving program
Establish and maintain relationships with current and prospective planned giving donors
Motivate, train and support board of directors and volunteers in planned giving outreach
Donor Advised Funds program
Evaluate and improve current donor advised funds program
Maintain relationship with Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) Donor Advised Funds
Establish and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors interested in donor advised funds
Reporting and Database Management
Manage KPOV’s membership database (Donor Perfect)
Maintain current records for memberships, status, funds, contact information and notations
Provide monthly reports
Generate contact lists for communications
Other Fundraising Involvement
Identify and develop new fundraising programs such as workplace giving, gifts of stocks/bonds, and other donation streams
Assist with fundraising events
Car donation liaison
Marketing and Communications
Develop and execute a strategy to market and promote all aspects of KPOV’s mission, vision, values, goals and objectives
Oversee database management with executive director, office manager and volunteers
Oversee all station marketing communications including email and social media campaigns (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
Collaborate with executive director, staff, and volunteers to maintain and grow relationships with regional media with an eye toward promotion of station activities, such as press releases, involvement at community events, etc.
Represent station at appropriate conferences and events throughout the year
Contracting Arrangement
The Relationship Director is a 1099 contractor. Preference will be placed on contractors that have a pre-established entity for which they do business (e.g., llc, S-Corp). The contractor will be expected to use their own computer, pay their own taxes, and provide their own insurance.
Compensation
KPOV is offering to compensate the contractor $30 per hour and is negotiable depending upon the expertise and experience of the contractor.
Timeframe
KPOV intends to have the contractor begin before January 31, 2025 and to have an ongoing agreement. Hours will vary depending upon the time of year with an average of 20 hours estimated per week.
